What is the Alliance?

Our partnership is creating a shift in the higher education sector.

Monash University and the University of Warwick have worked closely
together since 2009 and hold a common view that effective research and education outcomes in the modern world require global collaboration, opportunities and experiences.

The Monash Warwick Alliance was launched in 2012 and is backed by an annual invest of AUD$4.5m (Monash) and GBP£3m (Warwick) in jointly appointed staff, research projects, education collaboration and student activities.

The Alliance is our response to 21st century challenges that are global in scale and require international cooperation and thinking to address.

By exponentially increasing the scope and influence of our individual institutions, we have become a global education network greater than the sum of its parts.

It's a new model for higher education that has positioned us to compete with the world's most elite universities.

As young, ambitious, research-led institutions, our Alliance empowers us to meet the needs of industry, government and globally mobile students, who require international experience to exploit new opportunities and tackle world-relevant and strategically important problems.

Together we are accelerating the exchange of people, ideas and information. We offer deep research collaborations, staff mobility and cooperation across every aspect of our universities throughout Europe, the Asia-Pacific and Africa.

Our goal is for every student to become an international student. And our expanded research capabilities mean we're well placed to help solve increasingly complex global problems.

As we evolve, new modes of education will emerge, challenging traditional concepts of what it is to be a university.

Growing our strengths and capabilities

The Alliance is now growing our complementary research strengths, skills and capabilities, especially in the areas of sustainable chemistry, nanomedicine, advanced imaging and materials, and understanding cultures.

We will also add to our global learning and teaching capabilities through joint academic positions, developing virtual spaces for online learning, and expanding our student exchange programs

We are proud to be leading the way in adapting higher education to the expanding needs of the world community.

If you are as excited as we are about globally relevant education and research, and have any questions not answered here, please contact us for more information.
